Our Services

At Beacon Learning, we believe every student can thrive when instruction is evidence-based, individualized, and grounded in understanding how the brain learns. Our team of certified academic therapists and expert tutors use research-backed methods proven to build lasting academic skills and confidence. Whether your child needs intensive support for dyslexia, help strengthening executive functioning, targeted math instruction, or strategic SAT/ACT preparation, we create a personalized plan that meets them exactly where they are and helps them reach their fullest potential.

Our services can be provided:

  • At our learning center
  • Virtually
  • At your child's school (private schools)
  • At a 3rd party location

*If therapists/coaches need to travel to a location other than the learning center, there will be a small travel fee per session, based on how far away the location is from our learning center.

Dyslexia Therapy

Beginning with initial placement testing, the dyslexia therapist will work one-on-one with your child, at their own pace, using direct, explicit, structured, multimodal, and multisensory instruction. The dyslexia therapist will employ a systematic, sequential, and prescriptive approach, tailoring instruction to match your child’s progress. Students may be given short, focused homework for reinforcement—typically five minutes daily—to help strengthen memory and retention. Because repetition is essential for dyslexic learners, completing these assignments at home supports faster progress and stronger reading skills.

In addition to personalized instruction, your child’s Dyslexia Therapist will maintain an active and open relationship with you, keeping you informed of progress and sharing strategies to reinforce learning at home. This collaboration ensures that every child benefits from consistent support both in and out of therapy sessions. Through this partnership, we empower families with the tools, knowledge, and guidance to help their children succeed.

Executive Functioning Coaching

Our Executive Functioning Coaching program helps students develop the cognitive and organizational skills needed to thrive academically and personally. Beginning with a comprehensive assessment of strengths and challenges, our coaches work one-on-one with students to strengthen planning, time management, organization, focus, task initiation, and self-monitoring skills.

Using research-backed strategies grounded in cognitive science and behavioral psychology, our coaches provide direct, structured instruction in practical, real-world skills. Sessions include guided practice, reflection, and goal setting to help students build independence and confidence in their daily routines. Parents receive regular updates and practical tools to reinforce progress at home, creating a collaborative system of accountability and growth.

Our ultimate goal is to help students move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling capable, organized, and in control of their learning—and ready to apply those skills well beyond the classroom.

Math Tutoring

At Beacon Learning, math tutoring goes beyond worksheets and memorization. Our approach blends conceptual understanding with targeted skill practice to close learning gaps and build lasting confidence. Each student begins with a diagnostic assessment to identify specific strengths, areas for growth, and misconceptions.

Our tutors use evidence-based methods grounded in the Concrete–Representational–Abstract (CRA) framework and the Orton-Gillingham approach to mathematics, which applies multisensory, structured, and sequential instruction to math concepts. Lessons are explicitly taught, visually supported, and reinforced through hands-on practice, ensuring both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency.

Instruction is tailored to your child’s learning style, pacing, and school curriculum. We emphasize mastery through step-by-step explanations, cumulative review, and meaningful application of skills. Whether your child needs foundational support or advanced enrichment, our tutors make math engaging, accessible, and empowering—turning confusion into clarity and frustration into confidence.

SAT/ACT Test Preparation

Our SAT and ACT tutoring programs combine expert instruction with research-driven strategies to maximize performance and confidence on test day. Each student begins with a full diagnostic analysis using official College Board materials to identify specific strengths, weaknesses, and testing patterns. From there, we create a personalized learning plan based on three factors: the student’s current data, their target score, and how much progress needs to be made to reach that goal.

Beacon Learning tutors use evidence-based test prep methods that emphasize skill mastery, time management, and strategic reasoning. Rather than relying on memorized tricks, we teach students to recognize question patterns, apply efficient problem-solving techniques, and approach each section with clarity and precision.

Throughout the program, students complete guided practice sessions, targeted drills, and timed simulations to build endurance and reduce test anxiety. Progress is continuously tracked, and instruction is adjusted as mastery grows. Our individualized, data-driven approach helps students achieve meaningful score gains—and more importantly, equips them with academic skills that last well beyond the exam.

Basic Reading/Writing Tutoring

Our Reading and Writing Tutoring program supports students who need to strengthen comprehension, fluency, written expression, and academic language but do not require dyslexia therapy. Many capable learners reach upper grades still struggling to read efficiently, organize ideas in writing, or communicate their understanding clearly. Our tutors help close those gaps with precision and care.

Each student begins with an individualized assessment to identify specific needs in reading and writing. Instruction is grounded in structured literacy and evidence-based writing practices, focusing on comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, sentence structure, grammar, and essay organization. Students learn to analyze complex texts, express ideas with clarity, and build confidence in both their reading and writing abilities.

Through explicit teaching, guided practice, and ongoing feedback, we help students become stronger, more independent communicators—skills that directly impact academic performance across all subjects and prepare them for success in higher education and beyond.
